Before dawn, begin the ascent road to the peak of Mt Penanjakan most popular sunrise viewpoint 2700 m, where the sunrise over the whole of Tengger caldera. After dawn descends into the valley to ascend on horseback by ‘the path to heaven’ till Mt Bromo, the active volcano which regularly expels gas vents to the outside.
